 Just wanted to chime in here, and say that we're experiencing this issue
 as well.  No Suhosin on the server, plenty of memory allocated to PHP, no
 server timeouts or errors.  Upgraded to 3.5 - still no dice.

 On this particular site, there are about 135 pages for the menu - top
 level of 7.  (Very well organized and laid out, so I kinda reject the "too
 many pages for a menu" argument.)

 But once we get past about 100, adding them appears to work fine - 'til
 you save the menu - then they just disappear.  No error, no lag.

 Hope this gets fixed in the near future.
