 When you upload an image, it goes through the normal process of having
 sized thumbnails created based on your media settings.

 The modal takes the "medium" thumbnail and crops it in the view box which
 is ~125x125px give or take. The cropped version of that thumbnail is what
 you see.

 This is expected behavior.
