 For this getting in 3.5 it needs a lot of unit tests since the code will
 be changed a lot.

 Looking trough the code I was wondering how the default statuses will get
 registered to the default post types. I'm probably missing something. Also
 doesn't it make more sense to create a WP_Post_Status class instead of
 using a global for that?
