 I wonder if we could do a bit more with this. What I'm thinking of:

 {{{
 add_action( 'parse_request', function($wp) {
   if ( isset( $wp->query_vars['foo'] ) ) {
     $wp->is_generic_request = true;
   }
 }
 }}}

 This would skip running WP_Query and would load `generic.php`, making
 plugin dev's lives even easier.
