 Even if most users didn't have the admin bar on before (sadface, I like
 the admin bar), it seems like this is enough of an overall change to be
 able to move things around and just have users, well, get used to it. That
 snazzy new pointer should help, right? :)

 I also think that on really wide screens (since we are also including
 those on the responsive end) the user menu would quickly get lost over
 there, and on smaller screens it could get cut off. If it's only going to
 contain profile and log out, then I could see it on the right even on wide
 screens, but if it does indeed end up containing my sites (and/or more),
 then it should come over to the left because it seems it would be used
 often. It also seems that several of us feel that the current grouping and
 layout just doesn’t seem to work with most people's workflows. If it's a
 work in progress, then we can still discuss, right?
