 +1 to Mark Jaquith's suggestion to rebuild the whole thing around search
 engines, and remove "normal visitors" out of the equation.

 However, once you go down that road, I think it makes the most sense to
 just remove this whole page and replace it with a single toggle box
 someplace: "Prevent search engines from indexing my site".
