Comment:

 It takes a little while for muscle memory to develop and overcome the old
 habit. Personally I also liked the click to open style we set back in
 2008, but the people have spoken and on hover is the name of the game
 these days. Speed trumps habit. Closing as wontfix, but I'm sure you'll
 develop the new habit soon -- and your wrists will thank you, since fewer
 clicks means lower risk of RSI! ;)
