 So is the intent to get things working automatically before release or is
 the plan to stick with only the core menu being available at release? I
 ask because I want to know if this is something that a developer can take
 a crack at now or if such modifications would be considered too large at
 this stage.

 I am concerned about the "we'll fix it later" route as this has happened
 in the past with future patches met with an attitude of "it works well
 enough as-is."
