 I just created a brand new test installation from trunk, and then logged
 into it from my PlayBook. Sure enough, there was an orange "Your browser
 is out of date" message on the dashboard telling me to upgrade Safari.

 I've attached a screenshot (URL obscured) so you can see what I am seeing.

 I don't have an iPad or iPhone, so I can't test from those devices, but
 I'm happy to test from my PlayBook. It is very easy to take screenshots on
 the PlayBook (RIM did an incredible job with this tablet) so I can keep
 the visuals coming if you need 'em.
