 I was going to say exactly what sorich did.  I have Ubuntu and FF 4 (it
 was automatic, I didn't do anything special) and you *can* remove the
 metabox.

 You could hook into `wp_dashboard_setup` for regular users,
 `wp_user_dashboard_setup` for admins, and `wp_network_dashboard_setup` for
 network admins to remove the metabox.
