 What do you mean the "trunk zip"? I can't find anything wrong with this
 plugin. The download looks fine to me.

 The problem here was that you had actually defined the version in the
 plugin at some point to be "trunk":
 http://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/dynamic-dates/trunk/dynamic-
 dates.php

 Versions are *numbers*. As far as the algorithm was concerned, "trunk" >
 "1.0.0", so it didn't update from that properly.
