 Ahhh - thank you for the tips/instructions...

 To be clear (precise), i have attached a plugin that illustrates how
 certain relevant aspects of custom post types and custom taxonomies could
 be integrated with existing default WordPress features. The plugin, or
 something like it, is not actually intended to be a plugin - but rather
 introduces code that symbolizes how different areas of WordPress could be
 updated.

 In this particular example, even though naming conventions were changed so
 as to work in parallel with the existing Categories widget, the code (or
 better) actually is a proposal for a new Categories widget.

 I will supply a possible alternative tomorrow - which will be integrated
 into wp-includes/default-widgets.php
