 People, this ticket is a mess.

 If you want to see it in core at some point, you need to answer these two
 questions:

 1) How much of a performance gain does this really give us? Some clear
 benchmarks would really help.

 2) How can we prove it doesn't break plugins that alter the WP_Query SQL?
