 Tell me if i'm wrong, you're telling that i must configure frontend &
 backend either as a subdomain install or a subdirectory install but it
 can't be mixed ... right ?

 What is the prefered way ? Is there any tuto describing ?

 type on the back-end. WP doesn't know how to handle that.
