 With regards to back-compat, I agree with ryan that it's better to not
 fire some of the old filters anymore and introduce new filters. That way,
 if a plugin wants to be compatible with WP < 3.4, it can just keep the old
 callbacks without any modification and add new code for WP 3.4+.
