 > The old HTML didn't allow multiple editors on the same page, retaining
 the IDs would mean we still ban that.

 The first editor could retain the existing ID. Subsequent ones can be new
 IDs.

 > Most of the functionality of the old the_editor() is in
 $wp_editor->editor(). We can have it as a separate function (again) but
 don't see the point since wp_tiny_mce() is now gone.

 The point is simple: Everyone uses it. It should stay and be a wrapper.
