Comment:

 Instead of guessing what a hypothetical user may want – couldn’t we just
 ask him? Add a checkbox to the background options page:

 [×] Use default background image

 I think this would be most predictable for both, theme authors and end
 users, and we would know ''exactly'' when to insert `background-image:
 none`.
