 While I originated this ticket, I apologize that I'm not sure what is
 needed now in order to get this into core...And like others, I'm strapped
 for time but I can make time given a clear direction.

 As far as performance gains, we have 25 WPMU 2.9.2 sites running all with
 query_posts patched. Without this query fix our sites would never stay
 up...Each 'blog' averages between 15k to 120k posts and 50k to 750k post
 meta records. What other benchmarks are you looking for? I'm unsure how
 far back our graphs go...

 All of our sites have had this patch for over 6 to 12 months.

 @scribu I'm definitely open to alternatives if it provides equal
 performance improvements.
