Comment:

 I've just been having a quick go an an alpha version of this that blends
 in with the current link button in TinyMCE.

 I've got to do some styling and add a scrollable div for when there are
 stacks of posts and pages and I might attempt to add a patch for a
 possible starting point with this feature. I'll have to add the additional
 fields mentioned by janeforshort as well then work on adding a search
 option too.

 It'd be my first attempt to submit a patch to WordPress. I might not be
 heading down the right track with this so I dunno :)
