 You'll want to provide a patch for the *.dev.css version of the file
 instead of the normal compressed file. The dev CSS and JS files are
 compressed by the committer before commit.

 (Use `define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);` in wp-config.php to get your install
 to make use of the dev files)
