I believe it's so filters can apply different behaviour to quick and full
- note the extra argument being passed to the filters.
I have no use for this myself, but I can envisage some potential uses for
filters who want to only apply themselves to the full version to avoid the
speed hit on counts where results wouldn't be used anyway.
