 would it not make sense to store the original passed-in value of $file and
 pass that as an optional second argument to the plugin_basename filter?
 Otherwise, you're only ever able to see the "mangled" version.
 Admittedly, I don't have an immediate use-case in mind, but that often
 seems to be best practice with filters of this type.
