didn't make it through. - What about the possibility for plugins to add
some arbitrary HTML at different positions of the Admin Bar via hooks (see
attachment:ticket:14772:admin_bar_inner_hooks.diff)?

My reason is that I'd like to add a {{{<div>}}} element which doesn't fit
inside a link.
My first patch was therefore meant to increase the flexibility of the
admin-bar API. - That's why I proposed the optional link in my first
patch.
