 I don't see a problem with removing the post_type restriction in r16191,
 and going just with supports.

 That said, I do want to remove the filter for adding new post types. We
 are going for consistency + 80%. Switching themes and having the same
 formats, etc. Not that we shouldn't solicit (especially from theme shops)
 over the next weeks or so exactly what formats we should have in core, but
 I feel that needs to be a decision so we can be consistent. Or that's at
 least how I interpreted the idea as a Codex page originally.
