Comment:

 That Codex page is massively out of date. Oddly enough it talks of
 functionality in 1.5 that I don't think ever existed.

 I'm going to close this as invalid due to the fact the ticket is based on
 misleading information from Codex. Any volunteers to clean up that Codex
 article?
