Comment:

 I agree it should not be in core. I was just concerned we didn't have the
 hooks to be able to do this.

 Going to re-close as worksforme. We can re-open if new hooks are needed. I
 imagine this is something we'll keep in mind in 3.1 without needing this
 ticket as a reminder.
