 This is pretty obvious.

 The 2.9.2 to 3.0 worked because http://wordpress.org/wordpress-mu-3.0.zip
 exists.  The 3.0.1 doesn't :)  A manual upgrade (or having gone from 2.9.2
 to 3.0) fixes it, but this is something that will need to be watched for a
 while to come, until everyone's off MU 2.9.2.  Maybe just make a htaccess
 rule to redirect the MU named zip to the normal zip?
