 I'm quite strongly against the idea of plugin dependencies.

 I would much prefer for plugins to be written using hooks and actions in
 the same way that WordPress is.

 Progressive enhancement if another plugin is present is a much cleaner
 user experience and displaying a nice message which says hey this plugin
 won't work completely without this other plugin is the best solution.
