 Thanks Scribu - apart from Mike's private development above - are you
 aware which plugins are currently doing this? Could be used as a starting
 point? I suppose Mike is right to suggest (I think he's done that on the
 3.0 ideas thread) that Post type/Custom Field UI should be developed in
 the core/close to the core.
