Comment:

 I tend to agree with Denis.  A -1 from me.  Since this ticket has been
 idle for 8 months and no one stepped up with more, I'm closing as wontfix.

 I would say that this functionality fills an edge use case and would not
 be used widely.  If I am wrong or you feel otherwise feel free to reopen.
 For the time being I think it should remain plugin territory.
