 There's a .diff for the functions, but I don't see them in the source. I'm
 guessing it was never committed? (Ticket #9422 was marked as closed after
 it was discussed that this diff would be put off until 2.9) I think it
 just got lost in the mix. That ticket had a number of attachments and lots
 of discussion.
