Comment:

 I've been trying to get to creating a patch for this all week but haven't
 been able to get to it.  Hopefully I'll get something together over the
 weekend.  I don't see why the categorie's meta box couldn't be altered to
 handle custom taxonomies.  Once the basic meta_box handling is done.
 We'll probably need to alter the category management pages to work with
 custom hierarchical taxonomies as well.
