 $file and $more_file are variables that appear in wp_link_pages() and
 get_the_content() and are not used.

 In the oldest version of WordPress I can find, 1.2.1, they don't seem to
 do anything either. Can someone enlighten me about their original purpose?

 Patch removes the dead code.
