 As agreed in the IRC dev meeting of 22 October 2009, we can improve the
 text of the first post to offer useful information, tips, and hints, like
 a link to subcribe to update notifications (and a sentence on why they are
 important).

 Since we are not in string-freeze yet, I think this could go into 2.9; it
 won’t break anything.
