 I don't know if I'll have time to drive this for 2.9. I need to get some
 work done on the unified upgrader.  Assuming we have someone to drive it
 and everyone agrees to put it on the schedule for 2.9 during the next dev
 meeting, here are some of the remaining things that would need to be done.

  * Fix Quick Edit. It eats data for custom post types.
  * Make edit-tags.php post type aware and get the menus working for edit-
 tags.php?taxonomy=foo&post_type=bar
  * Fix screen options for both custom taxonomies and post types. They
 share with the default taxonomy and type at the moment.
  * Easy means of including/excluding metaboxes from the custom post type
 edit screen.  Maybe register a callback that does remove_meta_box() and
 add_meta_box() calls.
  * Make sure we don't bust everything in the process. :-)
