 @All : this is exactly what is missing in Wordpress.
 We need this !!!

 I successfully patched the wordpress 2.9 (from SVN) files and it seems to
 work. I got the "thingy" menu in WP and I can add tags.  But not
 categories.  Is it a bug ?
 How can I do this ?

 @Ryan : you said : "Drop post-type.php in mu-plugins to test" : how do you
 make this work under WPMU ? I'm really interested in it.
