 API is explained here:

 Additionally, better Widgets handling will (may) become available with
 some level of OOP therein. Creating a Widget is then as easy as
 subclassing the Widget Class (WP_Widget). Be aware, that this is PHP 4
 Code, so this is only with very limited OOP features.
