 Perhaps, but the thinking was if a URL got cut off, it should guess it.

 We'll take your example: `http://www.example.com/2002/06/11/taadaa/`

 If that got cut off in an e-mail, IM, whatever and was
 `http://www.example.com/2002/06/11/taa`, WordPress would be smart enough
 to redirect to the proper post.
