Comment:

 I cannot duplicate this issue in trunk with either fix invalidly nested
 xhtml on or off.

 However the author of this ticket should take note that the browser will
 try to interpret < and > as the beginning and end of html tags and thus
 should be converted to their entities before publishing.  If you do not
 want to do this manually look into a syntax highlighter as recommended by
 Viper007Bond.
