Comment:

 There were no changes to jQuery and jQuery UI (including ui.tabs) between
 2.8 and 2.8.1. Perhaps you mean "all worked with 2.7.1 and older".

 About four months ago jQuery was updated to 1.3.2 and UI to 1.7.1. This
 includes some changes in ui.tabs 1.7.1. Unfortunately some plugin and
 theme authors didn't update their scripts to work with the new versions.
