 I think we need more discussion on the user-experience expected here to
 ensure we do the right thing before we commit any code.

 Your patch takes one approach (the auto-emptying Trash bin) but I have
 also heard mooted the idea of undo rather than trash as a more user-
 friendly experience.

 It depends on what we are trying to achieve.

 With regard to the patch itself if we do go down this route I think it
 would be better to have a daily/weekly/... scheduled event that empties
 old trash rather than a cron hook per comment.
