 You have to register a new post type first. See

 duplicate functionality.  Ideally, I'd prefer to use anything you do
 instead of coding it myself, or if you'd like I can donate my plugin code
 into the core.  It's not complete yet but I've uploaded a screen shot for
 you to see what it (currently) looks like.

 The plugin should stay a plugin, IMO. Just like there's a plugin for
 managing custom taxonomies from the admin - Simple Taxonomies.
