Comment:

 I really like the {{{_deprecated_argument()}}} idea - I thought it up
 completely independently of this ticket and wrote about it here: #10805

 I would also use it in side the back-compat bit of the fix for:  #10468

 Does someone want to create a patch for that function and a separate patch
 for how and where we would use it?
