 sounds like the kind of thing r10955 was meant for. I take it the option
 contains a string?

 in wp-includes/query.php, please change the following, at line 2305:

 {{{
 $sticky_posts = get_option('sticky_posts');
 }}}

 with:

 {{{
 $sticky_posts = get_option('sticky_posts');
 var_dump($sticky_posts);
 }}}
