 It would be great to be able to exclude certain images from a gallery in a
 post. Perhaps an extra column in the media table with a simple 'exclude'
 checkbox next to each image.

 Rationale: people often create a post with some text and a couple of large
 images that have context with the main/text content. If a gallery is
 inserted these images are then repeated as thumbnails in the gallery below
 and are often not relevant in this different context.
