Comment:

 That fixes the case where the edit-comments.php query would fail if the
 index on comment_date_gmt wasn't created.

 As for the other problems, I don't know.  The 2.5 to 2.6.1 upgrade doesn't
 touch the comments table other than trying to add the comment_date_gmt
 index.  No destructive operations are done.
