 Mrmist is right - it is still broken. There are status messages for the
 minor actions (Save as Draft, Save as Pending Review), but no status
 message for the major action "Publish".

 Tested this on latest revision (9978) with the following results:

 - Add new page, save as Draft: status message at top "Page updated". Taken
 to Edit Page, still see page trying to be created.

 - Add new page, save as Pending Review: status message "Page updated".
 Taken to Edit Page, still see page trying to be created.

 - Add new page, click Publish: no status message at all. Taken to "Add New
 Page" (url: http://****/wordpress27/wp-admin/page-new.php?posted=29). The
 URL is the only thing that tells you that the page was published.

 - Edit page just created, change status back to Draft: status message at
 top "Page updated. Continue editing below or go back.". Still on Edit
 Page, still see page being edited.

 - Edit page just created, change status back to Pending Review: status
 message at top "Page updated. Continue editing below or go back.". Still
 on Edit Page, still see page being edited.

 - Edit page just created, status either draft or pending review, click
 Publish:  no status message at all. Taken to "Add New Page" (url:
 http://****/wordpress27/wp-admin/page-new.php?posted=29). Once again, the
 URL is the only thing that tells you that the page was published.
