 I don’t know if this orange for “Pending” is final or just a placeholder,
 but its contrast against white and off-white is bad (and much below the
 thresholds suggested by W3C).

 I cannot find an orange that provides good contrast AND is sufficiently
 different from red, so I’m submitting a brown for consideration, at least
 as a temporary fix, to spare the eyes of poor beta testers.  :-)
