 Or rather the image alt attribute uses the caption text for initial value,
 as most people would set caption but not alt. The "alt text" is editable
 from the Edit Image popup or in the HTML editor.

 The alternative would be to set it to the image's file name (IMHO quite
 useless) or to leave it empty.

 Don't see how setting alt and a caption under the image would break
 accessibility guidelines or the HTML5 draft.
