Comment:

 Just a note if you're wanting to keep your !WorPress install Stock & this
 change doesnt make it in anytime soon;

 !WordPress allows you to place a file 'db.php' into the wp-content folder:

 I know there are a few classes around which are aimed at allowing multiple
 Database servers, most aimed at @WordPress MU - however probably still
 work with !WordPress
